Pacific Great Sea Turtles
Help us preserve a survivor from the days of the dinosaurs! Come and witness a nature wonder, participate and help secure the hatchling of thousands of Olive Ridley Turtles eggs which are laid yearly on the most important turtle beach of the Pacific coast, Escobilla beach. Join a dedicated biologist group during exciting nights searching the turtles in a unique nature phenomenon, the Arrivadas (Arrivals: thousands of turtles come out to lay their eggs on the beach at the same time).
Itinerary
• Day 1 - Huatulco. Transfer to our lodge, the Posada Rancho Cerro Largo. Welcome and orientation dinner.
• Day 2 - Visit La Ventanilla estuarine ecosystem, here you can observe sea turtles, crocodiles and birds. Here we take a small boat ride around the channels in search of the endemic wildlife.
Also visit The Body Shop Factory, where local people make body cream, deodorant, skin oil and shampoo with natural materials found in the area.
Travel to La Escobilla Turtle Camp Overnight Cerro Largo.
• Day 3 - We will visit Mazunte, the beach chosen as the site for the National Mexican Turtle Center. At the center’s ten-acre complex, biologists, veterinarians and research groups are dedicated to the study, protection and preservation of the sea turtle.
La Escobilla Turtle Camp, patrol the beach and releasing hatchlings into the ocean. Overnight Cerro Largo.
• Day 4 - We will drive to the charming Mexican village of Puerto Escondido Visit the iguana farm and Manialtepec Lagoon. Manialtepec, “the place of spring-fed waters,”. Overnight Hotel Santa Fe.
• Day 5 - We´ll take a motorboat ride in search for sea turtles in the ocean. We´ll stop at Angelito beach for snorkeling and enjoying a peaceful beach. Tonight we´ll have our farewell dinner in the town area. Overnight Hotel Santa Fe.
• Day 6 - This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home.
