The Marietas Islands Snorkeling
A bird's Paradise above, a beautiful tropical reef fish below! Come and visit Marietas Islands, one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries in Mexico’s Pacific coast and one of our National Parks. “Las Tres Marietas” are truly beautiful islands of volcanic origin, full with innumerable caves carved by time and water.
These Islands are the home of a vast colony of sea birds, such as the true pirate of the sky, the magnificent frigate bird, egrets, herons, sea gulls, pelicans, brown boobies and the world famous galapagos Blue-footed Booby.
Different species of corals inhabit these area and of course, many different species of fish enjoy the safety and productivity of the surrounding waters. You might spot King Angelfish, Panamic Sergeant Majors, Cortez Chubs, Giant Damselfish, Moorish Idol, Rainbow Wrasse, and many more.
Our Marietas Islands snorkeling trip is different from other trips! We drive you to Punta Mita a fisherman village located in the North end of the bay and only 20min boat drive away from the Marietas. The whole idea of doing this is to give you the oppportunity to get acquainted with the North part of the bay with its villages and varied ecosystems, provide you with more snorkeling time, and giving you the chance to enjoy a typical palapa style lunch. We employ local workers, the boat and crews are from fishing families who know the sea and local reefs well.
